Skanska Sverige

Our client, Skanska Sverige, is a part of Skanska AB, the fifth-largest construction company in the world. Skanska Sverige regularly requires large volumes of texts to be translated from Swedish into English within a short period. As these documents are of high importance and usually need to be translated in a limited time frame, our average translation speed for Skanska is 50 pages per day, which means that a regular 150-page project is completed with an extremely short 3-to-4-day delivery time. Skanska Sverige projects require translators that have an understanding of construction terminology and concepts and who can also translate into native UK English.

To enable us to meet the client’s translation volume turnover needs, we have created a team of five translators who can work simultaneously on a single project using Translation Memory and centralised terminology tools. By using these tools, our team can keep to a high turnover of 50 pages per day, as well as maintain high quality and consistent work throughout their translations. Additionally, we always keep the document formatting at 1:1, so that our clients can use the documents as soon as they are delivered, allowing them to keep their projects running smoothly and efficiently.

Our responses to our client’s messages are always lightning-fast. We respond to the client’s request for an offer within an hour and can begin translating as soon as the client gives us a confirmation for the project to go ahead. Our translators are always notified about the coming project in parallel to creating the offer for the client.

Latvenergo

State company Latvenergo needed more than 100 pages of content for their Sustainability Report translated into English. The difficulty arose due to a large part of the materials already having an English translation that the client liked (similar material from the previous year). The client wanted us to use the previous translation and stick closely to it wherever possible. The project needed to be completed quickly and the client worried about whether it was possible (having to check the reference throughout the job), as this would be time-consuming. We like to make use of the saying, “Tell us how it is impossible and we’ll tell you how we can make it happen.”

We broke down the reference material into sentence-level translation units (segments) and aligned them into a Translation Memory (TM), thus ensuring that whatever text matched the original text would be translated exactly as it was previously. Another bonus for this project was that the translator had a quick, easy and, highly reliable way of checking the terminology used against the TM.

The client benefited from the reduced cost of translating this material, as we do not charge full price for translations done using the translation memory or for repetitions as they only have to be checked against the context, rather than being translated completely from scratch.

Latvenergo was very happy with the result as the repeated text was transferred perfectly and new text was translated using the same terminology, style and tone that was used in the previous year’s material, thus ensuring greater cooperation in achieving the client’s request, and showing the client that their “voice had been heard.”

BJB SIA

Over 10 days, our client, SIA BJB, hosted their Italian partners, to install Italian handmade windows in our client’s facilities. Our client required a translator to urgently assist with translations during the installation period.

On short notice, we were able to provide a professional Italian–Latvian interpreter who was not only able to work for 10 days straight, but was also willing to work long days with business hours ranging from 8 hours to 12 hours per day. Our translator facilitated unimpaired communication between the client and their Italian partners about the window installation process.

Our client was concerned about whether the interpreter would be able to understand the terminology related to the window installation process. To ensure that our client was satisfied with our interpreter’s ability, we held a meeting between the client and the interpreter so that they could become acquainted with one another. This meeting also allowed the client to brief the interpreter on what she would need to know about the specifics of the work.

Both the Italian and Latvian parties were happy and completely satisfied with the service of our interpreter and satisfied that the communication through the window installation process was able to run smoothly, despite the language difference.

LMI Translations works with Tark Grunte Sutkiene, a top-tier commercial law firm that advises international and domestic clients from their Baltic offices. This large firm includes more than 130 lawyers and has provided legal counsel since the early 1990s when Baltic countries returned to a market economy.

The client came to LMI with an urgent need for 29,000 words to be translated from Russian into Latvian as quickly as possible. The crediting contracts and annexes translation needed to be correct and precise but was also needed extremely urgently. Three translators with banking and financial backgrounds were assigned to the project to ensure that all terminology was correct and usable.

To cut the translation time in half and deliver a premium-quality, accurate translation, the workload was split between three contractors. TGS’ client chose not to order a review of the services to save time and money on the project, so LMI offered to have the first translator review the work of the other two translators before delivery. This guaranteed the most consistent, clear translation and still allowed LMI to deliver the large contract project within the client’s short deadline.

Livorno Pharma is an innovative pharmaceutical brand that is rapidly becoming an international presence with many successful medications on the market. They are the Latvian representatives of exclusive medication brands, including Piascledine. The company approached LMI Translations with the need to update the QRD template for Piascledine in order to comply with the Latvian template and submit the document to the State Agency of Medicines of the Republic of Latvia.

Our translation of the quality review of documents (QRD) template had to be correct and precise with accurate terminology throughout. Additionally, it had to be consistent with previous versions in other languages and formatted appropriately within the Latvian template. The translator assigned to this project had a medical background in addition to linguistic expertise to ensure that all medical language was appropriate.

To ensure that the terminology matched previous translations, we asked Livorno Pharma to provide previous text versions in both English and Latvian. The bilingual files were aligned and saved into a translation memory that aided in the translation process. The result was exceptional as both the translator and reviewer were able to navigate the terminology with ease and deliver a finished translation that was in complete accordance with template standards and previous versions.

Over the course of this project, we exercised our rigid quality assurance process and provided a full translation in addition to revision and final verification services in accordance with ISO 17100:2015.

The State Social Insurance Agency of Latvia contracted LMI Translations to translate detailed medical reports for Latvian patients who received medical attention abroad. The documents, forms, and reports were accurately translated from multiple languages including English, Spanish, Italian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Greek, German, Polish, and French into Latvian.

To accommodate the state’s request, we formed a team of 10+ translators who worked together to deliver the large caseload of documents without any errors. Each translator was carefully selected for the task due to their history of professional language translation and their background in the medical industry. The elite selection of experienced linguists covered all of the language requirements of the project with their exceptional command of the specialised medical language and details. Each task team partner was assigned as a lead on a single specialty language to ensure that every document was translated accurately.

The medical translation service also required the standardisation of medical forms, as the LMI Translations experts collected and organised the information in Latvian on the correct corresponding forms to meet state standards. Maintaining a consistent, efficient workflow to complete the project ahead of schedule, the translators worked independently and in collaborative groups to deliver precise work with accurate medical translations.

Two expert LMI interpreters proved their mastery of language and professional work as simultaneous interpreters for the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC) of Latvia at the Joint Action on HIV and Co-Infection Prevention and the Harm Reduction HA-REACT seminar. More than 40 people were involved and the interpreting service provided live translation between the English and Latvian languages.

LMI chose two professional interpreters with proven translation skills between the English and Latvian languages who also offered specialised backgrounds in medical translation and interpreting. The team prepared for the seminar by studying the medical material, data, and presentations before the start of the job to be fully prepared during the seminar. They also studied a glossary of medical terms and details that would be relevant in this specialised niche area of expertise.

Over the entire course of the professional medical seminar, the interpreters offered a simultaneous translation. One interpreter offered a responsive interpretation service for twenty minutes at a time while the partner took a complementary role, assisting and taking notes as needed to ensure the highest quality interpretation and interactions. The Latvian CDPC was able to fully engage in the seminar with international medical professionals and enjoy the clear communication necessary for moving HIV action and harm reduction planning forward, which was all made possible by the support of LMI Translations.
